DAMA Day 2024 introduced a discussion on Artificial Intelligence. At DAMA Day 2025, we will conduct a deeper dive into the ethical use of data and how ethics should be embodied in the development and usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Data Ethics defines a set of principles and guidelines that govern how data is collected, used, and shared, with an emphasis on protecting individuals and society. Data Bias becomes a data ethics issue when decision-makers rely on data that may be skewed, incomplete, or otherwise unrepresentative. Data Curation is the process of organizing, describing, and maintaining data to ensure it is accessible, accurate, and relevant for reuse. DAMA Day 2025 will focus on Data Ethics and Curation as tools to effectively manage AI and address concerns around Data Bias
What tools, policies, and oversight are needed to make sure the data is accurate, complete, and objective so that it is fit for use by AI?
- Awareness of Bias in the collection of data, processing, and analysis.
- Fairness when considering how different demographic groups are represented in data, how the result is interpreted, and how it could impact various populations.
- Transparency about the known assumptions, limitations, and potential biases in the steps of data collection, analysis.
