Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) a Friend or Foe for Data Governance and Data Literacy
One of the most talked about topics in today’s world is Artificial Intelligence. Everyone is talking about it. You hear about it in the news, talk shows and even in Congress. Our government in Washington DC wants to control it without even knowing what it is or is not.
It can be a Friend of the world economy and science helping us automate processes that can save money, time and labor. It can help all aspects of data management: Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture, Project Management & Control, Systems Engineering and many more areas. AI Robotics can be used in the medical field making surgical advances and it can be a boon in curing diseases like Cancer. It can also be a Foe, if left uncontrolled. Without safeguards, it could it take control of the whole world.
Back in the 1980s, a movie called Colossus, the Forbin Project, shows us how a large computer, called “Colossus” was developed by Doctor Forbin, using Heuristic programming techniques. It started out as a boon to Mankind, a guardian of the US defense systems and then over time, eventually took control of the whole world.
- What is AI and how can it help society?
- What is the current status of AI?
- How will it impact data Architecture, Data Quality, and the Data Science Roles?
- How can we keep it from taking over the world?
- How will data vendors be using AI to enhance their products?
- What special AI Data Roles are emerging?
